Middle & High School

Girls in Research
This program, funded by the National Science Foundation, encourages girls in Eastern Kentucky to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Girls in Research is for girls entering sixth grade.

Kentucky Young Researchers Program
In this program, run by the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creativity, juniors and seniors work on research projects under the direct supervision of UK faculty mentors.

Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER)
CAER conducts research designed to generate information on Kentucky energy resources; ascertain the associated environmental impacts; and produce, test and evaluate new technologies. They have a number of student programs.

Engineering
Every February, in celebration of National Engineers Week, the UK College of Engineering sponsors "Eday," an open house that includes hands-on projects, lab tours, and prizes. Also, check out "Women in Engineering."

Community of Science Funding Opportunities Database
To search student listings in COS: click on "Advanced Search," (you can search using the new interface or click "Switch to Classic View"). You can search by putting a word or term in the "All Fields" boxes or you can click the relevant fields under "More Search Fields" such as "Keywords" and "Activity Location" according to your research goals and interests.  Then, choose "Requirements," select "Undergraduate Student" or "Graduate Student," and hit "Search." You must use an on-campus computer to access this database due to security restrictions.
