Important Notices Concerning Tuition Scholarships
The Graduate School Funding Office is charged with administering approximately 1,800 tuition scholarships for graduate assistants and fellowship holders each semester. These scholarships originate from a variety of sources, such as endowments, university scholarship accounts, and Research Challenge Trust Funds. Staff members of the Funding Office are charged with the fiscal stewardship of these accounts and work to see that as many students as possible receive scholarships, even though funding is limited.
- Eligibility for tuition scholarships
Students must be enrolled in a graduate program; post-baccalaureate students
are not eligible. Graduate Assistants (TAs, RAs, GAs) placed on scholastic
probation are not eligible to receive either an in-state or out-of-state tuition
scholarship.
- Course exclusions for tuition scholarships
As of fall 2005, the Graduate School no longer excludes tuition scholarships
for undergraduate courses, correspondence courses taken through the UK Independent
Study Office in Frazee Hall, courses taken with an audit (AU) grade type,
and courses taken by doctoral students who have already completed 18 hours
of the 769 residency requirement. This policy is intended to allow graduate
students to taking remedial courses required by their academic program and
director of graduate studies, as well as allow graduate students to take courses
to complete certificate programs. No tuition scholarships are provided for
courses taken at BCTC (formerly LCC). DGSs with questions about the tuition
scholarship policy may send e-mail to the Graduate School: gsas@uky.edu
.
- Student Recreation Fee (Seaton Center Fee) and Health Fee
All students are charged a mandatory recreation fee each semester. This fee
is not covered by Graduate School tuition scholarships. Therefore, full-time
graduate students with tuition scholarships are liable for this fee and the
student health fee for a total of $181.50 each semester. Graduate students
should make every effort to pay these fees by the published deadline for tuition
and fees each semester. Students who do not pay the fees risk cancellation
for nonpayment of fees, or may have a STOP placed on their academic record.
- Differential tuition policy effective fall 2004
The Graduate School will pay tuition scholarships according to the annual
tuition scholarship fee schedule. Any differential tuition charges will not
be paid by the Graduate School. Degree programs that will be charging differential
tuition effective 2004-2005 include Masters in Business Administration, Masters
of Arts in Diplomacy and International Commerce, Master of Science in Physician
Assistance Studies, Master of Science in Radiological Medical Physics, Master
of Science in Health Physics, and those in Public Health.
