The interdepartmental Crop Science graduate program offers graduate work leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees with areas in plant breeding and genetics, crop physiology and management, turf science, cellular and molecular genetics, seed science and technology and weed science. Faculty are from the Departments of Agronomy, Forestry and Horticulture in the College of Agriculture. For the M.S. degree, 24 hours of course work plus an acceptable thesis are required (Plan A). Work leading to advanced degrees must conform to the general rules and regulations of the Graduate School. Crop Science faculty also participate in the interdepartmental Plant and Soil Science graduate program which offers programs of study leading to the Master of Science degree.
Individual programs are developed to include a strong course work component and a meaningful research experience. A strong undergraduate background in the agricultural and biological sciences is required for all degree candidates.
