The National Institutes of Health has transitioned from distributing preprinted PHS 2590 and 416 forms to an electronic notification process for Non-Competing Grant Progress Reports. Beginning with December 2002 start dates, individuals will need to access the Pending Progress Report website to confirm report due dates. With the implementation of electronic non-competing progress reports, NIH will no longer send pre-printed face pages to grantees. Grantees are responsible for monitoring the NIH website for their reporting deadlines. Progress reports are due at NIH two months before the beginning date of the next budget period. You can confirm the submission date for your report(s) on the NIH Pending Progress Reports website at http://era.nih.gov/userreports/ipf_com.cfm. The Institutional Profile Number (IPF) for the University of Kentucky is 2793601. If you do not have the IPF number, the University of Kentucky information can be accessed by selecting the "IPF Search by Name" query link on the Pending Progress Reports website. You can conduct a query based on due dates or by investigators. To assist with the electronic process transition, the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration will email investigators submission deadline reminders two months in advance of the due date. Please respond, acknowledging receipt of the email within five days to avoid receiving a secondary reminder. Emailing reminders is a manual process; investigators are encouraged to monitor their own non-competing submission deadlines. If you do not receive an email, review the Pending Progress Reports website to verify the submission date and contact the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration. The email will provide links to the PHS 2590 Application Packet http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/2590/2590.htm, the Form PHS 416-9 for National Research Service Award recipients http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/416-9/phs416-9.htm, and/or the PHS 398 Application Packet for Competing renewals http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/phs398.html. Competing renewals are identified on the Progress Report website with an LY (Last Year) designation. Awards that are covered under the Streamlined Noncompeting Award Process (SNAP) are identified with a "Y" in the "SNAP" column. The Review Group, Type, and Activity Fields that were previously supplied on the pre-printed Face Page are not identified on the NIH website. The Review Group Assignment was indicated on the notice of receipt and assignment correspondence received shortly after the proposal was first submitted to the NIH. Review Group designations, descriptions, and acronyms are available on the NIH website at http://www.csr.nih.gov/committees/rosterindex.asp. The Type field designates whether the proposal is a Noncompeting Continuation (Type 5) or a Competing Continuation (Type 2). Other Type designations are available for review in Table 6 of the NIH information system code booklet http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/ac.pdf. The Activity Code is part of the sponsor award number, e.g., R01, P01, T32, etc. Activity codes are available on the NIH website at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/ac.pdf, Table 3.
