The eighth annual Kentucky EPSCoR Conference will be held at the Executive Inn - West in Louisville on Monday, Oct. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Speakers include representatives from the following major federal research agencies: NSF, DOD, DOE, DOT, NIH, EPA and Homeland Security. The conference will focus upon identifying the high-growth R&D areas (both non-EPSCoR and EPSCoR) within these agencies. Discussion of "hot-topic" research areas will include the type of programs envisioned, expected funding levels, lead agency group(s), and contact information. Agency programs that relate to the priority research focus areas of the New Economy strategy will be highlighted. In addition, representatives from Kentucky's federal legislative delegation will discuss how they can support academia's expanding role in the growth of the commonwealth's technology-based economy. There is no registration fee to attend the annual EPSCoR Conference, but space is limited and registrations will be taken on a first come basis. Representatives from Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, and possibly Ames Research Center will present information on NASA's facilities, programs, and technologies. Kentucky's university researchers will showcase on-going R&D activity relevant to NASA in the commonwealth through oral and poster presentations. Extended breaks and lunch period will provide ample opportunity to network, foster partnerships, and discuss poster presentations.
